"Noelle named 2013 Artist to Watch"

Jackson-based singer and rapper Noelle "Gahdis" Gee, 22, stays current with her sound while addressing social issues in her music. "Mi Girlz," for example, is a shout-out to all women—from CEOs to stay-at-home moms.

#When she's not repping females, Gee is looking out for No. 1 with boasts like "go against the goddess, make you an example," and "flow coleslaw and my swagga BBQ, I'm getting that bread so they want the beef stew."

#Gee remembers the group Destiny's Child stirring her passion for music.

#"(I was in) sixth grade (when) Destiny's Child came out," she says. "Me and my cousin recorded their video and performed it at family events." Gee also credits TLC and Aaliyah for inspiring her to sing, although at first it was just in youth-choir programs.

#She began writing poetry in third grade and eventually started rapping her poems to get exposure.  Her singing heroes such as Lauren Hill also became her rapping idols, and Hill's I'll-rap-like-the-boys-rap attitude is audible in Gee's music. Gee's flow also contains echoes of the hard-edged delivery heard now in Three 6 Mafia's Gangsta Boo. - Jackson Free Press

Bio

She was born a goddess with the name Jessica Maria McKnuckle, however, overtime she found her own which explains the making of Noelle Ge'. Raised in the 2014 Fortune magazine most corrupt state, Mississippi, Noelle lived in a small town in northeast MS known as West Point. At the age of four her birth mother was arrested causing her and her three older siblings to be raised by her Aunt Joyce and Uncle George in the hood of Frog Bottom. Her aunt and uncle was determined to not have the hood in their home, despite the state of their community. Because of this Noelle became involved in theatre arts at home, school and church. She knew at a young age that success was the main goal, however, her struggle with identity, drugs, violence and education caused a lot of drama in her life. Noelle Ge' failed before she succeeded. Although she experienced a fair share of ups and downs, she discovered that it was only a stepping stone for a better future. After reuniting with her birth mother, Noelle became to know more of who she was and wanted to be and she found ways to remain that person. These ways were expressing her natural gifts. The dream she was born with has become reality. Today a self-assured, drug-free, well-educated Noelle Ge' is a community leader, business owner, and game changer.
