"Premiere Pat App: "Spirit Bombs" - These Days"

About a month or so ago, the These Days team and I came across Indianapolis native Pat App through a chance email. Since, we have become big fans of the creative kid from Indy who teams up with us today to drop off his latest piece, a visual rendering for his single "Spirit Bombs". The single is an unreleased gem that the guys actually shot here in Chicago back in February. The city has become a sort of second home for App and his team, who collaborate often with the Chicago-based ELVTD collective. They described the group as "a collective from Chicago based around spreading conscious awareness and us coming together as people." After spending even a few minutes with the guys as we had a chance to do a couple weeks ago at one of our meetings and it's obvious they're making music for the right reasons. You can definitely look out for plenty more from TD and Pat App and his ELVTD collective in the future. We actually caught up with him really quickly to get a little added insight on the video and more. Check that out below and the video above and take note. Pat App has Spirit Bombs.

Take us through the background of this single?
Back in February I linked up with our friends at ELVTD to perform at a showcase they had set up in Chicago. We filmed Spirit Bombs that same weekend traveling around Chicago and filming in the subways while we escaped the snow.

How did the visual come about, what was the idea behind it?
I mean Chicago is a good hip hop community in general. But my good friend Levi who directed the video had heard the track and shared some ideas he had filming in Chicago so we just spent the weekend after the showcase around the city filming.

What should people know about Pat App?
I think people should know about good music. And if they come across me in the process that’s cool because they get to see me do what I love and relate with me.

What should listeners be on the look out for?
Listeners should look out for more videos and a new project in 2016. Also keep up with the ELVTD movement, they’re doing big things in the world.

Anything to add?
Read more books. Stay elevated! - These Days

"Pat App- Spirit Bombs (Dir. by Levi Turner)"

“Young alchemist
All my blessings, I’m counting
I’m seven chakras, I’m balancing…”

Indianapolis rapper Pat App drops “Spirit Bombs,” his new video directed by Levi Turner, and presented by Soul Fam. Pat has worked with Levi before on the Beautiful Minds video that came out in the summer of 2014. Pat App is one to watch, he has an honest, cutting voice and plenty of substance to share. The rapper was brought to my attention via These Days who premiered the “Spirit Bombs” visual. Pat spends time in Chicago as part of the ELVTD collective, “Spirit Bombs” was filmed here. I’m excited to hear more from Pat App, his spiritual rhymes are uplifting. - 1833

Bio

Indiana isn't known for music as much as it is for NASCAR and the plethora of corn fields that dot the flat land. Other than the Jackson family, the state has yet to play a significant part in the music we hear every day on the national scale. Pat App plans to change that. Hailing from a small town outside of Indianapolis, the artist born Patrick Shawn Appleton discovered music at a young age thanks to his dad's 2Pac CDs, but it wasn't until his time at Purdue University, where he is currently a junior, that he discovered he could make a real difference through his exceptional talent with a pen and pad.

Using hip hop as a medium and a microphone as his weapon, Pat provokes thought and shares enlightening perspectives through his music while immersing listeners in a lovely head-nodding experience. At the end of the day, he hopes to inspire everyone to be their best self by stirring internal change through ideals of love, unity, and freedom from mental oppression.

As a natural wordsmith, Pat is a force to be reckoned with on the mic. His voice demands attention when layered over a beat, and with an indubitable mic presence, is difficult to ignore. The way words naturally flow from his mind into the mic without compromise brings about a sense of belonging in the mainstream rap world. Fans have applauded Pat's lyrical and musical versatility - whether it's a 90s vibe or future chill beat, expect the emcee to outshine any other element of the song. After crushing opening performances for the likes of Curren$y, Hopsin, and others, Pat's ready for the main stage.
