"Peyton Gilliland Drops a Love Song for the Age of Social Distancing"

Gilliland has something strong here. The track boasts lyrical echoes of '80s gloom rock like The Cure, combined with the modern pop flair of artists like Adele. "Ghost" is crying out to be put on an angry jogging playlist, or to blast in the background as the credits roll on an HBO show. Its energy is palpable and contagious, and it's exactly the kind of anthem we all need right now. Unintentional as it may be, this song feels incredibly timely. A love song for the age of social distancing. - Pop Dust

"EXCLUSIVE: PEYTON GILLILAND PREMIERES POWERFUL NEW SINGLE ‘CRY’"

Less than a month after dropping her debut single “Drag Me Under,” the 16-year-old alternative pop singer is back with another bop. This time, she’s slowing it down and stripping it down with a powerful breakup anthem, “Cry,” and we dare you to listen to it without singing along.

The track is all about the importance of recognizing your self-worth, despite the oh-so-relatable feeling of being dragged down in an unhealthy relationship. We. Are. Obsessed! Do your years a favor and give it a listen: - Tigerbeat

"Exclusive: Peyton Gilliland premieres 'Drag Me Under' music video SPECIAL"

A rising teen artist, Gilliland co-wrote the song with songwriters Craig Wilson and John Salaway. The song "Drag Me Under" is about finally becoming self-aware in a bad relationship and realizing that the other person is drowning you with all the lies and self-doubt that follow; moreover, "Drag Me Under" is about determining one's own self-worth and realizing one deserves better. - Digital Journal

"Peyton Gilliland Releases New Single Not Bothered"

Alabama native and 18-year old emerging artist Peyton Gilliland have just released her latest single “Not Bothered.” Showcasing her smooth vocal and rock influences, she co-wrote the song with Hannah Arn and John Salaway.Gilliland shares, “‘Not Bothered’ is the perfect post break up anthem. It’s about the kind of ex that constantly tries to make you jealous and it basically means ‘It’s pathetic that you’re acting out to get my attention because I don’t care anymore,’” noting, “It’s my first rock song but it’s definitely not the last!”

Produced by Lincoln Parish, co-founder of Cage the Elephant, the pair are currently in the studio working on Gilliland’s debut album.

“Peyton is a diverse artist. She can pull you in and captivate you with a ballad as equally as she can a hard rocker.” Adding, “Her growth from when we first started working together has been immense and I can’t wait to see what’s next for her.”

Considering Parish a mentor, she also credits his former band as one of her biggest influences growing up, along with the likes of Alabama Shakes, Arctic Monkeys, and powerhouse singers like Adele and Amy Winehouse.

Currently traveling between Nashville and her hometown, this latest single follows “Empty,” both of which express her self-assured nature and steady vocals that originate from a confident lower register and easily climb to powerful controlled belts. At only 18, Gilliland graduated high school last month having already amassed nearly 100,000 followers, celebrating multiple songs on the Digital Radio Tracker charts, while also recently earning a semi-finalist spot for the International Songwriters competition amongst more than 25,000 entries. Her forthcoming debut album is expected next year, with select shows throughout the summer. - Divine Magazine
