Moore’s presence and sound is perhaps Mayfield-meets-Maxwell, a gritty urban storytelling flair with a fearless falsetto, blended with a smooth, eccentric bohemian vibe that appeals to the ladies. - Brian C Scott - www.culturocity.com
R&B and soul singer and songwriter Quentin Moore was one of the judges for the talent show and kicked off the event with a few “old school” songs.
“I do elementary schools all the time,” he said. “I enjoy it. It’s cool being able to expose these kids to some music they might not be familiar with, something with a singer who actually an instrument and isn’t just a beat maker.” - Marshall News Messenger
"Moore’s current style encompasses a number of musical genres, while staying true to the music that inspired him while growing up." - Chris McGuinness - Killeen Daily Herald
"Quentin Moore has a wide vocal range that can take you from Curtis Mayfield to Teddy Pendergrass in one song. His musical capabilites are not to be ignored." - Tiffany Haggerty - TheExaminer.com
"You Forgot Your Heart honors and advances the vocal soul music traditions of Sam Cooke and Curtis Mayfield, of Stax and Motown Records. The smooth background vocal and shuffling beat gently kicked along by soft funk bass turn "That's My Girl" into the Motown sound, though its closing vamp dives headlong into Cooke's hand-clapping gospel fever. You Forgot Your Heart - Quentin Moore (Honorable Mention) - Soultracks.com
"Clean, crisp, polished, and with a touch of raspy grit, Moore's voice is as infectious as the inspired interplay between the fellow musicians who ride the various grooves for all they’re worth. One listen to You Forgot Your Heart could be the start of a musical love affair." - - Garry Moran - Soultracks.com
"His is a throwback style, reminiscent of R&B’s ’70s socially conscious yet still sexy heyday, but one that feels relevant, thanks in part to Moore’s astonishing voice, which glides effortlessly from a smooth tenor to a gorgeous falsetto." - Preston Jones - DFW.com
"His originals provide the launching pad for a joyously and rhythmically instructional session on the highlights of old-school R&B." - Mario Tarradell
"He doesn’t have to play long before his many abilities announce themselves. Moore can be thumping along, controlling an audience with an irresistible soul groove. On a dime, he can pivot the same song into straight-up funk — the bass swaggering and the snares hitting just behind the beat." - Lucinda Breeding - Denton Record Chronicle
" Moore Relies on his Skills rather than Studio bells and whistles." - Denton Record Chronicle
"emotional R&B with his own soulful vocals, "old meets new" type vocals..." - www.Soul-treasures.com
“Vintage Love, a much appropriate title, instantly takes me back to the days when musicians spent long hours in the studio working it out in the name of Soul, making sure that when they were done… the fans would have something special. I believe you will agree.”
- Dewayne Alston - Soul City Radio
Interview - FWsoul.com
“I was extremely surprised when I heard Quentin Moore “live.” His professionalism was “off-the-chain” and his repertoire was endless. Watch out for this up and coming musician!”
- John L. Hanson - Host, "In black America" (KUT Radio)
Interview on Page 15 - LIT Monthly Magazine
“As Moore’s bio reads, “Quentin Moore is “The Last Mohican’ of southern-style soul”, and the set did much to credit this label…Of all the originals Moore displayed, the title track to his…album, “Vintage Love”, was the most above par and a suitable homage (metaphorically and literally) to the type of sound he wishes to create and give to the listener.”
- Mydentonmusic.com
“Like snowflakes, fallen from the sky…the best album to drop in 2009?
- Tony Brignull - Breakingartists.co.uk
"...There's something about his old-school sensibilities that's appealing in the age of electro beats and Auto Tune."
- Hunter Hauk - QuickDFW.com
"Quentin Moore is a diverse artist with a powerful voice full of R&B & Soul. With an undeniable presence, he puts on a soul-cleansing show that makes you want more, he has seductive lyrics and charisma to match. Not to be missed!"
- Lori Stevenson - Austin Daze
"...This guy is definitely underrated. He’s a welcome throwback to a time when R& B was real, suave, quirky and full of heart." - Dallas Morning News (Mario Tarradell)
"...his 2009 debut, Vintage Love, and 2011 follow-up, "Quentinized" (Mixtape), both self-produced, unapologetically present large, steaming warm slices of R&B and soul..."
"...Moore wrote his entire Vintage Love debut, which suggests a cross between a young Stevie Wonder, from his keyboards and arrangements, and a young Maxwell or Brian McKnight, from his smooth, sure vocals, and also provided all the lead vocals and much of its instrumentation. One of the top selling Urban R&B/Soul releases on CDBaby.com, Vintage Love highlights include the lushly evocative "Sex Song" a quiet storm that thunders and billows like Teddy Pendergrass on the tomcat prowl, and the energizing "Whoop Your Jazz (jam)." - Allaboutjazz.com
"There's a certain rustic, organic quality to MOORE'S music which in these days of air-brushed recordings is refreshing." - SoulandJazzandFunk.com

Bio
Drive, discipline, and determination—these are but a few of the hallmarks of the former Austin, TX high school star of several sports and the University of North Texas college athlete with the competitive thirst to win on the Dallas/Fort Worth football field. These key traits were matched with the early fundamental musical and spiritual training Moore received under Austin steeples through the tutelage of church musicians that captured his childhood imagination with their wondrous ability to meld skill with spirit to rock a service to its feet. Soon the awestruck middle schooler would be the skilled teenager adept at keys, bass, organ, guitar, and his first love, drums—all studied and performed in the gospel quartet tradition that would leave an indelible mark on Moore’s sound. Soaking up the blues of his grandparents, the doo wop of his dad, the classic R&B of his mother, the hip hop soul of his elder sisters, and the reggae to rock afforded by the legendary Austin music scene all stirred in the heart and mind of the future musician who’d try his hand at it all.
Deciding on a musical path in 2003, after witnessing the first blush of the Dallas independent soul movement with artists like Geno Young, Carmen Rodgers, Shaun Martin, and R.C. Williams, the Human Resources major found himself spending less time on the field and more time writing and learning with the student musicians of UNT’s famed jazz program, including future band members of Erykah Badu and Snarky Puppy. It was during this period that Moore was penning and recording the musical love poems that would eventually comprise his independent neo-soul debut, Vintage Love in 2009.
By 2010, Vintage Love had helped establish Quentin Moore as a respected local soul artist with a burgeoning fan base, with its reality-based romances drawing comparisons to fellow singer/songwriter Jamie Foxx. Its follow-up, Quentinized, expanded his musical repertoire with more covers and reggae-infused material. It was Moore’s mash-up medley of Total’s “Kissing You” with Tony Toni Tone’s “Lay Your Head On My Pillow” that earned him his first hit single, peaking at #2 on the Breaking Artist Independent UK Soul Chart. Opportunities on such stages as New York City’s Sol Village at S.O.B.s, Atlanta’s Independent Soul Summit, and opening act shots for national recording artists like Dwele followed.
None of that prepared Moore for the 2013 success of his junior release, You Forgot Your Heart. Finally settling into his niche in both signature look and style, reflecting the key influences of D’Angelo and Curtis Mayfield, a bolder, more mature Moore better embodied the classic soul and funk men of yesteryear. It was a single celebrating cultural authenticity that broke through the noise and gifted Moore his first #1 UK Soul Charter, “Natural Sista.” Boasting the throwback sounds of ‘70s retro soul with a rare showering of adoration for Black women and a timely message of self-love, “Natural Sista” opened up larger and more international stages to Moore, including his first European tour, a primo slot with the Austin Urban Music Festival, and a UK tour as the opener for multi-media darlings Kindred & The Family Soul. By Moore’s next project, he’d shared stages with a who’s who of old and new soul, including: Chaka Khan, Eric Benet, Tess Henley, Musiq Soulchild, Lalah Hathaway,The Robert Glasper Experiment, And Ali Ollie Woodson of the Temptations. Moore also made several television appearances withGood Morning Texas, Fox 4 Good Day Dallas, and Fox 7 Good Day Austin by the end of his run with You Forgot Your Heart, his second of two albums to enjoy a Japanese licensing deal with Sweet Soul Records.
Never one to rest on his laurels, the magnetic hustler of funk and soul returned to his love languages days by releasing two cupids arrows through the hearts of his intimacy music fans with VDay EP, Volumes I and II in 2014 and 2015, respectively, beginning a new Quentin Moore Valentine’s Day tradition in the process.
In recent years the Top 10 finalist of the MySpace/Budweiser National Soul Singer contest has produced and collaborated with a slew of other artists, including: Nao Yoshioka, Mike Walker, Michael Hubbard, and #1 Billboard Chart Topping saxophonist Vandell Andrew.
With his latest release of Black Privilege, the edgy, the romantic, and the unfiltered, the Southern soulster is kicking everything up into yet another gear to move people’s feet and claim their hearts with his special brand of modernized ‘70s funk ‘n’ soul.
