Local’s Seed of the Sorcerer, Womb of the Witch tore things up with their perfectly crafted blend of doomy, heavy, grind-inspired death metal. Those expecting to see just another local opener before the big headliner were sorely surprised, as the band’s stage presence and sound kept listeners engaged and headbanging the entire time.

Throughout the night, every band brought the heaviest of songs on their roster to pave the way for the death metal legends. However, after SSWW left the stage, the other acts proceeded to dial it up to 10 with the fog machines and incense coupled with the heavy riffs and BBQ fumes. The result was enough to dissuade photographers, especially those with respiratory issues, but we couldn’t resist capturing SSWW as they tore it up. - Out Front Magazine

"Seed of the Sorcerer, Womb of the Witch brews up doom EP “Spell Book I: Ceridwen”"

If you haven’t heard the roars and loud, thumping, fuzzed doom from Seed of the Sorcerer, Womb of the Witch around Denver by now, then here’s your best first chance yet. Sporting five members now after adding Manic Assault‘s Collin Bridge as a second guitarist (Corey Straight is the first) their debut EP Spell Book I: Ceridwen is the culmination of their live tapes of the same songs that are fully realized here. So if you’ve heard “Cunt of Ceridwen,” “Moss Crotch” (still a wonderful title for a doom song) and “Three Drops,” then prepare to be blown away by how good they sound now!

The EP opens with probably my favorite song of the four they’ve played/recorded so far, “Cunt of Ceridwen” which just bounces your head and jams hard. This is doom infused with death metal, which is probably the best kind of fusion of two sub-genres that doesn’t involve black metal. Steve Bogar roars and shouts away as the two guitarists belt out a tasty headbanger over Ian Lee Glaha’s drums and Ryan’s bass.

The track that sticks out the most of the three is “Three Drops.” This song is go slow, go fast, go slow, pick up the pace again. The track gets stretched across each speed at length. “Three Drops” starts slow for awhile before it all rears up and comes screaming in -literally- to jam for awhile before it hits the breaks to crawl through until the finish. At 11 minutes there’s plenty of pacing to enjoy here.

Then song title winner, “Moss Crotch” closes this three song EP out in style. You know how I said “Cunt of Ceridwen” was my favorite? Scratch that, I’m not even going to go back and edit that, “Moss Crotch” just sounds so damn good on this EP and I’m a sucker for adding bullshit like some dude voiceover reading fuckin’ “The Song of the Witches” from Macbeth, all in the name of thematics. Additions like that at the right moment are my kind of rad.

So, SOTSWOTW has this fleshed out EP dropping Saturday as they headline Tennyson’s Tap for the release alongside Thorns of Acanthus, Triton, Only Echoes and The Leshen. Very doomy and presented by the one and only Metal DP.

Seed of the Sorcerer, Womb of the Witch’s EP Spell Book I: Ceridwen is available Jan. 25 on their Bandcamp for $2. - Kvlt of Brewtality

Death Infused Doom Metal from the Rocky Mountains. We are 6-piece, Death-Doom band from Denver that utilizes a three-guitar attack for a monstrous, textured, and LOUD live sound, while also bringing a sense of occult theatrics to the stage to set a visual tone to accompany our dismal tunes.
