"I was blown away (within 30 seconds)"

The last time that I was blown away (within 30 seconds) by a power trio with a unique sound was nearly three decades ago when I heard Out Of The Silent Planet by King’s X for the first time. It was like déjà vu when I heard “Weather The Storm” for the first time. Like the video for the song (which feels like a movie), there is a mythical vibe to Shadow Horse that adds a layer of intrigue that you simply don’t find in many new bands.

“Weather The Storm” is only around four minutes long, but it has the epic feel of Metallica’s “Fade To Black” and the progressive sensibilities of classic Kansas. Lane Dudley’s vocals, which are a perfect blend of haunting beauty and power, bring the lyrics to life in a vivid way. Equally impressive are his crunching riffs and soulful leads. The rhythm section of Pete Bartels (bass) and Tyler Logan (drums) provide such a heavy foundation, that you have to remind yourself that this is actually a power trio.

In my opinion, King’s X is a band that never got their just due because they marched to the beat of their own drum and couldn’t be easily pigeon-holed. That, and their thought-provoking lyrics may have been above the heads of the masses. Here’s hoping that Shadow Horse can overcome some of the challenges that befell King’s X. The world needs more bands like this! - Hard Rock Daddy

"Shadow Horse Goes Medieval in "Weather the Storm""

“Weather the Storm” is not at all what I expected. I hit play, anticipating to be pulled into a rock song, but by the time the video ended I had been through an entire epic story taking place in a medieval fantasy world. Shadow Horse is a Mythic Rock band local to Nashville, TN who just raised the bar for rock music videos in town.

Fourth song on a concept album titled “The Visitor,” Shadow Horse’s first video is a unique, refreshing, and dare I say offbeat, conception. It brings the audience into an intriguing and beautiful world where a hero is defying all odds to try and save the earth from death and destruction. As he conquers a series of quests and connects puzzle pieces, you hear the refrain as an omnipresent voice imparts prophetic words upon the young hero.

“The Meek shall inherit the earth, but the strong shall destroy it first.”
The video takes you to a final understanding: through all of this hero’s struggles, no matter his circumstances, he can hold onto hope even though his tomorrow may not be beautiful and full in the same ways as yesterday. - Nashville Offbeat

"SHADOW HORSE TWIST THAT BRIDGES THE GAPS BETWEEN OLD SCHOOL AND CONTEMPORARY METAL"

Shadow Horse is a heavy metal band hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. Their music immediately stands out for its broad range and for the band’s unique approach to songwriting, denoting a truly special personality and an original twist that bridges the gaps between old school and contemporary metal.

The band’s recent single, “Spear”, is a great example of the well-refined sonic mechanism at the core of the band’s tone. The song has some really great riffs, a dense, heavy beat and more importantly, a smooth vocal flow that sits perfectly on top of the instruments, easily cutting through the mix.

On “Spear”, Shadow Horse showcases a driven attitude, with lots of talent and a unique vision. Their tone could be described as a refreshing blend of doom and heavy metal, echoing the work of influential artists such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest or Arch Enemy, only to mention a few of the bands that come to mind while listening to this music. - A&R Factory

"Shadow Horse at Blue Bar"

Monday, June 5th, Shadow Horse performed at Blue Bar, and Nashville Offbeat is so glad to have been there! The self-proclaimed 'Mythic Rock' trio took the stage at 10pm, and the first thing to be noted was how tight they were as a band. Hitting every note and nuance as one, they had clearly put their time and practice in. It definitely paid off! Lane Dudley's voice cut across the bar, clear and strong. The seats in front of the stage filled up and the whole room took notice. If you like guitar solos, a tight rhythm section and living outside of the Nashville sound, this may be your next favorite band! They are currently performing around Nashville to promote their debut album titled "The Visitor," (released June 2nd, 2017.) "Shadow Horse Release Debut Album"

Nashville, Tennessee, USa “mythic” rockers Shadow Horse released their debut album The Visitor back in June 2017.

The group describes itself on its website as follows:

“Shadow Horse arrived onto the Nashville scene with their debut album “The Visitor” June of 2017. Leading off with an epic concept album, the eleven song odyssey moves through a story. Telling the arrival of The Visitor through the eyes of a hero brought to the edge of death and back. Brutal riffs, soaring solos and a thunderous rhythm section drive the scenes with a tension and catchiness that enthralls the listener. Brought together in Nashville TN with a desire to take chances and create something special, this three piece powerhouse truly loves what they do. Lane Dudley mans the mic and six string fret board with tasteful and joyous command. Pete Bartels dominates the bass clef while not afraid to stretch his musical legs into upper registers and craft his own contemplative melodies. Last to join the chorus but often the first to impress is Tyler Logan. Drums as poetic as they are loud his adventurous rhythmic mastery drives the heart beat of the songs. With much more music on the horizon, Shadow Horse is a band on a mission.” - Sleaze Roxx
