"Pure Grain Audio"

If you like energetic, hook-driven, groovy rock and roll then I suggest you place Canadian rockers Sons Of Revelry on your radar post-haste. Their music is uncomplicated and simple, but unbelievably catchy and within the first few notes of EP opener, "Born With A Bigga Goal," my feet were tapping, my head was moving, and I was an instant fan! The clean riffy guitars are driven along by hypnotic groovy bass lines that just get right under your skin... -

"We Just Had To Showcase This New Up & Coming Band..."

Brantford, ON’s Sons of Revelry play straight-forward indie rock that doesn’t stray too far from the sounds popularized most recently by Kings of Leon or Arctic Monkeys. With enough hooks to balance out the occasional spacey moments, their debut EP, Born with a Bigga Goal, portrays a band with a lot of confidence in its sonic concoction and maturity that extends beyond their limited time together... - Canadian Musician Magazine

""Sons of Revelry are possibly the hottest thing to have surfaced in Ontario within the last little while""

Sons of Revelry are possibly the hottest thing to have surfaced in Ontario within the last little while. Having only been together as a band for three short months, they have quickly shaken things up around Brampton, ON and surrounding cities with the iTunes release of their debut 3-track EP, “Born with a Bigga Goal”, which landed them a performance slot at Toronto’s UpRoar festival and is continuing to spread amongst listeners like wildfire. - Michelle Normandeau

""Sons of Revelry are like Kings of Leon in their Peak""

Horseshoe Tavern was fairly packed when I got there. It was mostly 20-somethings, but there were people in their 30's in there, too. The crowd was lively, everyone was already buzzed. It was a Friday night, so people were relaxed and looking for some fun. And they got plenty of that. The catchy rock tunes of Sons of Revelry made the girls scream and dance like they were Kings of Leon (at their peak). The dudes were enjoying themselves as well, nodding their heads along with the music. - Raya P. Morrison @ The Scene Magazine

"Going to be one a Canada's Best Exports?"

“Born With A Bigga Goal“, has an incredibly powerful riff that avoids being overbearing. The steady rhythm section contrasts the screaming guitars. The song transforms itself in the last 30 seconds into an in your face anthem... - Bobby Gottesman

Bio

Sometimes, you just have to go for it.

There are bands that have been around for years that would kill for the cohesiveness, camaraderie and chops that Sons of Revelry already has.

A mere five weeks after adding the final piece of the bands lineup, Brantford, Ontario rock band Sons of Revelry is releasing its self-titled debut three-song EP, after taking their city and surrounding region by storm through a series of raucous live shows and blanketed media coverage.

The brainchild of Scottish expatriate Toby Black, a successful internet marketing entrepreneur still only in his late 20s, Sons of Revelry brings together long-time friend Corey Brouwer as the primary axe-slinger, veteran Brantford bassist Arron James, and the skillful skin-beating talents of drummer Sean Boyle, who joined the band a mere three days before they went into the studio to record the EP.

What I saw when we first got together was that Toby is an amazing songwriter, but he also works really hard at everything that he does. And that piqued my interest. I wanted to work with someone who is serious about their craft and serious about doing whatever it takes to make it work, said Boyle.

The frenetic energy, obvious passion and abundant talent of Sons of Revelry creates a wall of sound on the EP that belies the nature of the bands short tenure as an entity. Recorded live off the floor by producer/engineer Tal Vaisman, the songs are fresh, vibrant, pure and unadulterated rock and roll.

Combine the solid musical foundation with the marketing acumen of Black and his wife/business partner Layla and it is obvious that Sons of Revelry have all the pieces in place to make an all-our assault on the music business.

We show small businesses owners how to get shown on social media and other platforms. And its been a beautiful synergy with Sons of Revelry because we are like a start-up independent business.

Musically, Sons of Revelry have become a tight live act and a songwriting tour de force through their openness to one anothers ideas. Very much like the way The Doors created much of their best work in their personal jam space, Black, Jackson, James and Boyle have come up with true gems from their own jams.

I write songs every day. I just wake up in the morning and it just starts to flow. And whats so cool is that I can take an idea, or Arron will bring in an idea or Sean has an idea or Corey will bring in a riff and we will just go to the jam spot and its like magic, within one session we will have a complete song.

I love that this band is not about just one guy who does all the songwriting. I write all the lyrics but as a band we develop a collective melody and structure. Every component is put together in our jam spot, said Black.

The first song on the EP could be said to sum up Blacks philosophy of life, and the fierce independence that infuses the ethos of Sons of Revelry as a band.

Sung with his Ayrshire brogue in full flourish, the Born With a Bigga Goal is an in-your-face, defiant message to all the doubters from his youth.

Its the total raw emotion of me growing up in Scotland. I was expelled from a few schools, and I was told by every teacher except one or two, that I would amount to nothing, that I may as well just go on the dole.

The song is the story of me being written off by my teachers but showing them how wrong they were by having such a successful life and relationship and business. Its like f*** you, Miss. Look at me now, look at what I have built. I was born with a much bigger goal than youll ever know and I am actually doing it.

Boyle said the message of the anthemic song is universal. I feel that everyone goes through that sort of conversation where someone older or in a position of authority says you cant do something you cant follow your dreams.

The languid, bluesy Time shows the band can stretch the boundaries of rock and roll and reinforces the non-formulaic aspect of the bands sound.

The song is kind of like therapy for me. The first part is about calling the girl that you long for and you dont know if shes home alone or with someone else and feeling pushed aside.
