The intersection where acoustic guitar soul meets raw electric guitars, memorable lyrics and melodies has long been known as a cool place to hang out, producing an endless number of great songs and artists. The Illinois-based STEVE BARNES AND THE HAZY SPARROW has mastered the art of folk/rock with spirit and substance. Now they're taking the show to the streets. Fronted by Steve and Beth Barnes on guitars and vocals (with bassist Colin Ryan and drummer/percussionist Kyle Perez supplying the back beats), the band puts on a show that is fun and captivating. Performing songs based in the timeless sounds of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Black Crowes, and Americana, The Hazy Sparrow catalog also includes current songwriters like Jason Isbell and Ryan Adams. The band performs both covers and original songs with exceptional male/female vocals, topped off with a smooth acoustic/electric sound.

The band has been making friends and winning fans around the Midwest and across the USA in recent times, performing in Washington State, New York, Philadelphia, North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois. A list of Illinois venues played would include South Elgin Riverfest, Palatine Street Festival, Taste of Lombard, Norridge Park District Festival, Elgin Arts and Soul Festival, Taste of Randolph/Randolph Street Festival, Fringe Festival, Relay for Life at The 5/3 Bank Ballpark in Geneva, and the Lords Park Zoo Benefit. The band has also played The Rave in Milwaukee WI and countless other clubs and performance settings. Hazy Sparrow music has been heard on WXRT-Chicago’s popular Local Anesthetic program, been performed live on The Chef & Jeff Show on WRMN-Elgin, IL and on I-Rock Radio, and appeared on the Hostage Radio compilation release by WC Records Productions and the Kiss The Sky compilation release by Waterloo Sunset Records.
