SUMif gave an energetic performance to a hungry crowd on Wednesday night, September 14, 2016 at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall. It was Steph Wells' first performance in the town she calls home under the new electro-pop moniker, performing songs that had a nice bite to them. When the performance finished with an enormous roar, the surprise and appreciation on her face was evident. Coming from Nashville-country to synth pop is no easy matter, yeah chord progressions, lyrics and melody cross over well, but vocal styling, sound design, and production are paramount to creating impactful electronic tunes. I'd like to introduce you to Steph Wells aka SUMif. It seems she has made the switch pretty easily.
"Want Your Love" is a fantastic record that has tropical infusions, dreamy guitar, chill synths and an in your face, infectiously catchy chorus. Hailing from San Fran this is just her second release and we're excited to be in on the beginning of this. - Beautiful Buzzz

Bay Area-based SUMif opened the night with a set of high-octane, frolicking, pop music. Monday night was her second Popscene show in five months and her trademark energy was on full display as she danced, sung and ‘played sax’ across every inch of the stage. She also treated the San Francisco crowd to a new, as-yet-unnamed song. It picks up where "Lay Down" left off, with an infectious, pulsating bass and by the end of the set, it looked as if her playful performance had won her more than a few new fans. - The Bay Bridged

SUMif is the electro-pop moniker of Steph Wells, who traded in her acoustic guitars for midi controllers on a mission to share her all time favorite experience with others: dancing her face off at shows with friends.
After graduating from NYU with a degree in Music Business, Steph moved to Nashville, TN to chase the songwriter's dream in Music City. After a year in Nashville and hundreds of country-pop songs later, the LA native realized neither the South nor country music were her thing, so she ventured back out West, settling in San Francisco, where she currently resides.
In 2016, SUMif released 5 singles, best known for her most recent track, "Lay Down," which made its way to #1 on the Hype Machine charts in July 2016. Steph is joined on stage by Rahi Kumar, who accompanies her with his guitar and synth skills.
