Speedy J will return to Detroit during Movement weekend to headline a Sunday night afterparty on May 29th.
No Party Like A Detroit Party, hosted by Army of Techno and Underground Mafia, will take place across three rooms at Bert's Warehouse Theater and run from 9 PM to 6 AM. Along with Electric Deluxe boss Speedy J, Plus 8 co-founder John Acquaviva and LA's Sublevel chief Doc Martin will hit the decks, and a couple of the Motor City's best-regarded live acts are confirmed: Octave One and Terrence Dixon. Other highlights on the lineup include K-Hand, Tim Baker, Asher Perkins and Detroit Techno Militia. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to local charities.

Terry James the founder Underground Mafia first came to know the underground in Detroit and Chicago in ‘92. And it was the minimal & techno sounds coming out at that time that helped make that life changing switch from metal to dance music. In the years after, After being heavily influenced and getting involved in the underground helping promote and produce events in and around metro Detroit through out the 90’s All along collecting and playing vinyl. Studying the masters and learning the craft of playing and hosting events.
In 2000 he decided to move to San Diego, focusing more on his mixing and event production/promoting. Pushing the Detroit Techno sound on the West Coast from Tijuana Mexico north to Los Angles and and the Desert to the East
In 2017 Terry Relocated back to Detroit and you can find him hosting and playing events through out Detroit and the Midwest. Along with this move Terry now travels the southern parts of the States from Oct. to April residing in the Tampa Florida area.
Underground Mafia and Next Step events have featured such greats as Juan Atkins, Speed J., Octave One, Dj Assault, Detroit Techno Militia, Frankie Bones, Woody McBride, Tim Baker, John Acquaviva, Doc Martin, Crystal Method, Asher Perkins, Big Joe Hix, Thee-O, Mark E Quark, Jason Blakemore, Terrence Parker, Dj Roach, Terrence Dixon, Minx, John Collins, Dj Psycho and so many other local SoCal supper stars.
