"Rock n Roll Debauchery on Laurel St"

“Describing Nashville’s Thelma & the Sleaze is like describing that time mom flipped the kitchen table over on your sister. Thelma & the Sleaze will be your dates from hell, or actually, make that from an upside down circus that spews heavy Southern-fried rock music to your face. Your ears need bliss, and well these ladies have it all served up and dirty for you. Put the wife and kids to bed, and let’s go hunting..."-Necci - RVA

"Sleazy Christmas"

“We wouldn’t realize just how much greasy muck we’d be wiping out of our ears until Thelma and the Sleaze came on next. This trio of knockabout dames sound literally no less menacing than they look, taking their namesake much more literally than you’d expect. Combining the feminist onslaught of Sleater Kinney and the heavy pop crunch of
Thin Lizzy, their sleazy, muscle-bound riffs oozed off the stage with a confrontational, disreputable tone. With the stage lit solely by a plastic, leg-shaped lamp (yep, like the one in A Christmas Story), the band’s lewdly androgynous stage presence — shirtless guitarists, black tape over the nips, etc. — ensured this was about the seediest rock show you can get without technically breaking any laws. The crowd had thinned considerably by set’s end, leaving only a hardcore row of females still pumping fists until the very last song and proving these ladies may have successfully trumped the Springwater in terms of legendary rack and ruin.”

"Thelma and The Sleaze at Bar DKDC"

Nashville pranksters Thelma and the Sleaze return to Memphis this Saturday night for a performance at Bar DKDC. Thelma and the Sleaze are no strangers to performing in Memphis, having already played at places like the Buccaneer, the Hi-Tone, and Black Lodge Video. The band seems to have found a home at Bar DKDC, as the Midtown establishment has hosted their recent local shows. No matter where they decide to play, the shock-rock that Thelma and the Sleaze deliver is worth the price of admission.

While most Nashville garage bands can be described as family-friendly, Thelma and the Sleaze take their live show to the limit, honoring past rock-and-roll troublemakers like the Runaways with revealing stage attire and provocative song content. Musically, they sound like the Pleasure Seekers covering Thin Lizzy, which means they could be tapped to appear in a Quentin Tarantino movie any day now. The band has a slew of EP's under their belt and recently added a second guitarist to beef up their whiskey-soaked songs.

Also on the bill is long-time-running local band Data Drums, a project of the Oscars' Chuck Vicious and Bobby Lee of the Manateees and Nervs. Though Lee lives in Oxford, Data Drums are increasing their local appearances this summer after a period of almost never playing live. Data Drums recently performed on the Rocket Science Audio variety show with Aquarian Blood, and frontman Chuck Vicious played a game of chess with an audience member in between (and during) his band's fast-paced punk songs. While there might not be a chess match during Saturday's show at Bar DKDC, the high-energy rock-and-roll should be enough to keep you entertained. - Memphis Flyer

"Thelma & The Sleaze, Humid with a Chance of Sleaze"

The Star Bar in Atlanta’s Little 5 Points neighborhood was a gathering place for an all Southern garage rock rama-lama last Saturday night, featuring Nashville trash rockers Thelma And The Sleaze as headliners.

Openers Daddy Issues (the North Carolina band, not the like-minded Nashville trio) capped off a humid summer day with an ample amount of surf riffing garage pop. A couple of new local acts followed, with Midnight Larks playing just its third show of their brooding country and western cuts; and Bad Spell, a trio fronted by Forty-Fives guitarist Bryan Malone, making its live debut.

And finally, Thelma And The Sleaze added ragged blues rock to the party, catching both excited rockers and bewildered bar-hoppers off guard with an extended jam of Def Leppard’s Hysteria. So if you think garage rock has run its course in 2015, swing through Atlanta or Nashville sometime to hear some comfortably familiar sounds, sang in a Southern accent, of course. - CMJ

"Nashville Band Thelma & The Sleaze Released New EP, Touring, Playing 2 NYC Shows (One with Aye Nako and Slothrust)"

Bad puns aside, Nashville trio Thelma and the Sleaze make superior riff-n-attitude rock n' roll. It's not too far off from the glammy punk of Ex Hex or the Burger Records scene. The band's Heart Like a Fist EP came out back in September and you can stream it below.
Thelma and the Sleaze are currently on tour and in NYC for two shows, playing Cake Shop tonight (12/2) with Mindtroll, and The Naked Heroes, and then Silent Barn on Wednesday (12/3) with Slothrust, Aye Nako and Little Waist (that's a pretty good show!).
