"The Odyssey Talks "Lately" (Interview)"

Every moment of the song is a big one. The lyrics are powerful and relatable; the melody is catchy and fitting. This apparently was the plan; Brown shared his goal with me of making every fifteen seconds contain something memorable.

The point of doing that is so people can listen to the entirety of the song. Instead of listening for one line or one piece of instrumental or even for just the chorus, he wants people to enjoy every moment of the song.

With “Lately,” I would say he accomplished exactly that. The song is one to be played on repeat; you won’t be able to just listen to it once. - Caity Robb

"Music Review: "Stormcoming""

Tulsa-based blues and alternative rock band The Odyssey released their first EP Feb. 8. Comprised of Cobey Brown, Derek Johnson and Elijah Avery, their music is full of passion and grit. I would describe their sound as if Kaleo and Young the Giant had a kid. With the voice of Sameer Gadhia and the instrumental base of Kaleo, their sound is unique and addicting.

The Odyssey is a band you have to keep an eye out for. With one headline show under their belt and many more to come, the sky is the limit for this young group of guys. I have never seen so many people sing and mosh to a local band’s song than I did this past Saturday at their show. The fans were loving every minute of the show, and it all started with the love and passion the band brings on stage. There are big things to come for The Odyssey, mark my words. - Reese Gorman

"The Odyssey's "Stormcoming" EP is a Breath of Fresh Air"

Listening to Stormcoming for the first time, I couldn’t help but notice the feeling of liveliness that rushes through the EP. With track number one, “I Love You Back”, it opens strong in the best possible way. Thunderous vocals and catchy guitar riffs echo all throughout this song, along with each of the others on the track list.

Through the roller-coaster of different musical styles, it seems a bit hard to keep up with, but it all works together in the end. There are different genres mixed into the six songs with touches of rock, folk, blues, and alternative. Every time I listen through the EP, there are definite musical influences that were used for inspiration – including tones that take you back to 70s and 90s rock music. - Deevia Fierro

"Spotless Mind's Ep Release Show Rocks Chimera"

With lights swirling around the room, the mood was set. The Odyssey played a set created entirely by fans, and even included a cover of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. There was something in there for everyone, from bluesy rock tunes to a powerfully sad love song. - Caity Robb
