Bio

Thug Mentality is a hardcore rap group from the West End of Toronto, Ontario,Canada. They're heavily influenced off early 90s East Coast/West Coast rap music. Members of this Rap group are, IceMan-Tha-Khanvik, Shelrock Teflon and Sawed-Off-Rifle.
The group started with 6 members In the year 2000 and was known as The High Life Thugs. They recorded a few demos and then shortly disbanded due to creative differences and the direction the group was heading.
In 2004 The High Life Thugs re-emerged As Thug Mentality with only 3 members,
Ice Man, Shelrock And Rifle.
Their debut was a EP titled as The Demo and was released in and around the Eglinton West, Vaughan and Oakwood Area In Toronto.
Thug Mentality used The Demo as an experiment to test the Toronto rap scenes and ways how to market their music. They created a street team which promoted the CDs in Barber shops and After Hour Booze Cans
in their neighborhoods. They obtain a buzz and notoriety due to those promotions being effective and gain a strong following around Eglinton West Vaughan and Oakwood.
In 2006 Thug Mentality released the album Murder Capital. Based on facts and true events of the summer the Toronto media dubbed as The Summer Of The Gun. The album was a regional success and sold a significant amount of CDs independently in numerous Mom & Pop urban music stores and hip hop clothing outlets. The album was also sold hand to hand all over the province of Ontario, Northern New York, Syracuse and Rochester without a major recording company. The album had 3 hit singles, "Live Good / Live Long " "Graveyard Shift" and "Eglinton West 4 Life". The singles was supported by music videos and "Eglinton West 4 Life" was a breakout hit in the city in 2007.
The album also incorporated DJ Screw Chopped & Screwed style making Thug Mentality the first Canadian rappers to add that style of music to their songs, prior to 2006 no other rappers had done that in Canada.
In 2010 Thug Mentality announced a new album, the title was revealed as Mentally Blunted. The album was cancelled and placed on hold when two of the group members was caught up in situations involving with the streets.
One of the artist was fatally shot and hospitalized, also another artist was convicted on felony charges and was incarcerated for a long period of time leaving the third artist, Shelrock Teflon with no alternative choice but to go solo releasing 3 well recieved street albums, (The Finest Ingredients, Defining The West End, and Sufficiently Dope)
In 2019 after many years from the Toronto rap scenes, Thug Mentality and High Voltage Digital Recordings decides to change the groups second contemporary studio album from Mentally Blunted and now resurfaces with a new title The Rebirth
