Bio

WIldhart was founded in January of 2013 with Nathaniel Goldblatt on lead vocals, Nick Barber on lead guitar, Dillon Hutyra on bass, and Jake Wallace on drums. When the four first met through the sound recording technology program at Texas State University in 2011, they became fast friends. They toyed with the idea of starting a band, but concluded that their apparent differences in musical taste were grounds enough to scrap the idea. But over time they discovered that they had more in common in terms of musical taste than they had previously thought. It wasn't until a year and a half later that they decided to finally start a band together. They entered themselves in their school's battle-of-the-bands competition, and quickly worked up a song Nathaniel had written called "Counterfeit," as well as a cover of Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle." Despite not placing in the competition, they knew playing music together was something they wanted to do. They began working on more songs together, developing their sound and discovering their strengths and weaknesses as a band.

Shortly after they had finished their demo of Counterfeit, however, Dillon announced that he would be leaving the band to pursue the release of his second solo album. Despite this hit to the band morale, the remaining 3 continued for the next 5 months working on new music, but were unable to find a permanent bassist. In the fall of 2013 Dillon agreed to come to a practice session to help workshop Aftermath, which would be recorded in the coming months. Dillon wrote and recorded his bass parts for the song, and a few months after the release he was asked to rejoin the band as a permanent member. (He said yes!)

The months that followed the release of Aftermath saw a significant increase in their online fans, as well as a 75+ person turnout at the band's first show in Austin (on a Tuesday night). The band also received positive feedback on KLYT 88.3 FM (Albuquerque)'s "New Music Tuesday" morning show program regarding their single release. With a sound influenced by bands such as U2, Switchfoot, The Killers, Coldplay, and 30 Seconds to Mars; Wildhart's music blends catchy pop/post rock-influenced melodies with introspective lyrics, lush chord voicings, soaring guitar leads, and driving rhythm to create a signature sound that when combined with Nathaniel's vocals, becomes instantly recognizable.

The band is currently not booking shows in order to finish their self-produced debut album, which is tentatively scheduled to be released early 2015.
