Hodge has been playing at Loughlin Vineyard for the past year and enjoys a faithful group of fans, many of whom followed him to the vineyard for his video shoot.

Like so many talented musicians hailed from long island such as Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper and Johnny Maestro, J.K. Hodge is an extraordinarily gifted piano player and song writer.

J.K. Hodge has recently released his latest CD "Keep In Touch." This CD was recorded live on location by Al and Leah of GIG Productions. The CD is a compilation of 8 songs in a romantic instrumental style. The recordings are somewhat linked together unquestionably revealing a story layer by layer. What is the significance of this story? What is J.K. conveying in this artistic work? Does it address romance, uncertainty, a sense of optimism and hope? It's a mystery in which the interpretation is left up to the individual's imagination. "Keep In Touch" is a fabulous CD to kick back and relax to on a chilly Bayport evening. Pianist J.K. Hodge is a special kind of musician in that he stores his musical repertoire in his head and passes his knowledge of music to his private students, even encouraging them to compose their own pieces.

In addition, Hodge recently recorded a half-hour television segment on keeping "real music alive" for Staten Island's public access station. He also participated in a benefit concert for Haiti in which he teamed up with the Islip Methodist Church and raised $1,500 for donation to Haiti.
Hodge hopes to eventually play at larger venues, but has performed at numerous local libraries, businesses and restaurants. Composing and performing his music is an opportunity Hodge noted he is extremely grateful for. Dated March 4, 2010. - The Suffolk County News

Isaac: How easy is it to gets gigs for you as an artist? What is the live music scene like in your area?

J.K. Hodge: Like anything in life you have to work to get gigs but if you have a good reputation you will be asked back. I don't think gigs have become limited but I do feel in this recession that businesses aren't willing to pay as much as they have in the past. I'm piano instrumental so the music scene is a little different for me because I play in smaller quieter venues. I still think the music scene is thriving around here but its more cover bands because there aren't many schools that are attended by out of state residents. You lose that cool college band scene because of this in my opinion.
