Bio
I'm a small-town Michigan boy influenced by the great songs of the 80's heard on the radio. I love love love the New Wave songs by New Order, Erasure and Depeche Mode (never get those times back!) as well as the hits of the 90's in hiphop, R&B and dance music. I learned the ins and outs of the music industry through my employment at Powerspan Promotions where I worked a number of records to become crossover radio hits, most notably Ghostown DJ's "My Boo," Spice Girls "Wannabe," Fugees "Killing Me Softly" and Everything But The Girl's "Missing." After feeling burnt out at Powerspan (it's a crazy 24 hour job to promote songs to radio!), I moved on to Classified Records where I worked the promotion campaign for the label roster that included Jocelyn Enriquez, M:G, Pinay and Julie Plug.
Believe it or not, my work on the promotion side helped me develop my songwriting. I knew what a hit record was not just as a music fan, but also as a radio programmer, as a deejay, as a retail buyer. I wrote lyrics and melodies in a notebook, and one of these songs called "Reminisce" by Malyssa became a radio hit, receiving airplay on crossover radio stations in various parts of the country.
This was my first taste of one of my songs having modest success. Since then, I have had songs placed in national TV shows, indie movies, DVDs, and music compilations.
Today, I continue to write music in the pop genre. I'm a member of Courageous - a songwriting team that writes music in the Contemporary Christian music genre. I also continue to build my song catalog in pop and r&b.
My songwriting has spilled over to fiction writing. My first novel "To Keep A Promise" will be released in October 2011. If you have a soft spot for a heartfelt love story, feel free to check out my author blog.
I wrote or produced all the songs on my Sonicbids EPK and are performed by various vocalists I've been fortunate enough to work with.
