Film Summary:

A young woman's struggle to empower herself and rise above the hard life set out for her.

Tracks are needed for the following scenes:

  • Title Track - The song would be the main title track, played in the opening scene as the movie's lead character, an up-and-coming, female DJ, is running through the barrio. The film is looking for a song similar in tone / vibe / feel as Mala Rodríguez's "La Niña". The song should also be performed by a female artist and be as close as possible to the reference track, incorporating the same hip-hop/street/urban vibe.
  • Party - The film is looking for a song similar in tone / vibe / feel as Big K.R.I.T.'s "Dreamin' - Return of 4Eva."The scene is set late at night in a head-shop-turned-art studio where a motley crew of underworld characters are hanging out, partying, painting, smoking dope. The hip-hop track is playing in the background. It should be relaxed as they are hanging out more than partying.
  • Lament/Walk through town - The film is looking for a song similar in tone / vibe / feel as Chavela Vargas' "La Llorona" but unaccompanied. It is an alabado, a traditional Spanish/Mexican prayer song, lamenting the young lives tragically lost in the hard town they live in. The song will be sung by a woman surrounded by pilgrims as they walk solemnly through the town in reverence for the dead. Genres: A Cappella, Alabado, Spanish/Mexican Prayer Song
  • End Credits - The film is looking for a song similar in tone / vibe / feel as "The Fire" by the Roots Ft. John Legend (see link below for reference). The song is for the end credits of the movie. It should be hip-hop/rap with melodic elements and a hook similar to John Legend's. We would use up to the entire duration of the song.

This film has several Sonicbids listings spanning multiple genre fields. Be sure to also check out their Rock/Garage/Alt/Triphop and Reggae/Electronica/DJ listings to see if any of the other opportunities apply to you. Some songs overlap between genres. Please submit to each individual scene only once, multiple submissions will not help your chances.
